Over the years, the number of immigrants working in STEM fields has increased and the trend isn’t expected to slow down. This project not only celebrates these twenty individuals’ insights and contributions to Minnesota’s vibrant STEM landscape, but also represents the crucial and inspiring work of immigrants across the US.[\/vc_column_text][vc_tta_tabs][vc_tta_section i_icon_fontawesome=”fas fa-book” add_icon=”true” title=”The Book” tab_id=”1625110306548-ed54b292-2d138da2-46e5″][vc_column_text]Green Card STEM Voices: Stories of Minnesota Immigrants Working in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math is an insightful collection of personal essays written by twenty immigrants and refugees working in STEM and living in Minnesota. Working in seventeen STEM fields and coming from seventeen countries, authors include Raul, a Colombian immigrant who works as a geothermal engineer; Fadumo, a Somali refugee who resettled in Minnesota at age fourteen and invented a portable HIV testing device at her high school; Kim, an immigrant from Cambodia who became the first person in her family to graduate college before pursuing a master’s in public health.<\/p>\n
