In the fall of 2015, Green Card Voices produced a teaching guideVoices of Immigrant Storytellers: Teaching Guide for Middle and High Schools designed with a diverse student body in mind by using real-life immigrant stories as its core content. The Teaching Guide and its 10 lessons, guide students and teachers through a historic, cultural and personal journey. Although geared towards a social studies classroom and based on its subsequent core standards, the 10 lessons can be easily adapted to grades 6- 12 and other disciplines. Please visit our STORE to purchase hard copy or eBook. Workshops on how to use our educational resources are also available. Please contact us at info@greencardvoices.com.

This teaching guide is based on the stories of present day immigrants who have come to the U.S. from all over the world. It guides users through a historic, cultural, and personal journey as it introduces the topic of immigration. It utilizes the perspectives of modern-day immigrants from Africa, Asia, Europe and Latin America, demonstrating a wide range of occupations and immigration statuses. The lessons engage all five of the senses through explorations of multicultural food and music while keeping personal storytelling at its core. It is authored  by accomplished educators and curriculum developers – including first generation immigrants from Africa, Eastern Europe, and Central America – who have added firsthand experience of the immigration process to each lesson.

Although geared towards a social studies classroom and based on its subsequent core standards, the 10 lessons can be easily adapted to grades 6- 12 and other disciplines.
